Description
PTD-DBM
Hair Growth

MECHANISM OF ACTION

A cell-penetrating peptide fused to the Dishevelled-binding motif (DBM). It disrupts the CXXC5-Dvl interaction, a negative feedback loop that suppresses Wnt/β-catenin signaling. The resulting activation of the Wnt pathway stimulates hair follicle stem cells in the bulge region, initiating entry into the anagen phase and hair regrowth.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Hair follicle regeneration through activation of the Wnt signaling pathway.
  • Prevention of hair follicle miniaturization.
  • Wound-induced capillary neogenesis.
  • Topical administration using a noninvasive approach.
  • Synergy with minoxidil and finasteride in combination regimens.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SAFETY

No significant adverse events have been reported in clinical trials. Topical use: mild scalp irritation.

RESEARCH AND CLINICAL NOTES

Kwack et al. (2019): PTD-DBM + valproic acid induced hair regrowth in a model of androgenetic alopecia, with a 28-fold increase in hair follicle count. Activation of the Wnt pathway was confirmed by nuclear translocation of β-catenin.

TARGET PROFILE:

Hair restoration protocols, dermatology, and alopecia management programs.
