MECHANISM OF ACTION

C-terminal tripeptide of α-MSH (Lys-Pro-Val). It retains the immunomodulatory activity of the original hormone. It directly inhibits the NF-κB and MAPK inflammatory cascades in intestinal epithelial cells. It reduces TNF-α, IL-1β, and IL-6. It activates melanocortin receptors in gastrointestinal tissue to promote mucosal repair.

KEY BENEFITS

  • Powerful anti-inflammatory action in the intestines for IBD, Crohn’s disease, and colitis.
  • Restoration of intestinal barrier function in intestinal permeability protocols.
  • Systemic anti-inflammatory effect without immunosuppression.
  • Supports healing and reduces skin inflammation.
  • Oral bioavailability for administration targeted at the gastrointestinal tract.
  • Safe: extremely low molecular weight and no systemic toxicity.

SIDE EFFECTS AND SAFETY

Very few adverse effects have been reported. Its small size and natural origin contribute to excellent tolerability.

RESEARCH AND CLINICAL NOTES

Kannengiesser et al. (2008): KPV-loaded nanoparticles significantly reduced colitis in a mouse model. Anti-NF-κB activity was confirmed in human intestinal epithelial cell lines.
