- It stimulates the LH surge to optimize testosterone levels in men.
- Activation of the HPG axis without suppression by exogenous testosterone.
- Improvement of libido via the central dopaminergic pathway.
- Supporting fertility through GnRH pulse restoration.
- Potential in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.
- Emerging: Support for cardiac collagen and neuroprotection.
Description
Kisspeptin
Reproductive / Hormonal
MECHANISM OF ACTION
C-terminal decapeptide of the kisspeptin protein. A potent endogenous ligand for GPR54/KISS1R expressed in GnRH-producing neurons. It stimulates pulsatile release of GnRH, which leads to secretion of LH and FSH and, subsequently, production of testosterone and estrogens. A critical upstream regulator of the HPG axis.
KEY BENEFITS
- It stimulates the LH surge to optimize testosterone levels in men.
- Activation of the HPG axis without suppression by exogenous testosterone.
- Improvement of libido via the central dopaminergic pathway.
- Supporting fertility through GnRH pulse restoration.
- Potential in hypogonadotropic hypogonadism.
- Emerging: Support for cardiac collagen and neuroprotection.
SIDE EFFECTS AND SAFETY
Generally well tolerated. Nausea at higher doses. Potential desensitization of the HPG axis with continued use at high doses.
RESEARCH AND CLINICAL NOTES
Human trials demonstrate dose-dependent stimulation of LH. Jayasena et al. (2014): Infusion of KP-10 significantly increased LH and testosterone levels in healthy men.
TARGET PROFILE:
Men’s health and testosterone optimization clinics, fertility practices, and HPG axis restoration protocols.
